East Riding of Yorkshire Council has teamed up with 14 other authorities across the region to launch a new website for families. East Riding Libraries customers can now access Find my Past and Ancestry.com FREE from home with their library card log in. At normal times, this has only been possible using the computers in libraries, which are currently closed. It’s one of the most eagerly-anticipated events of the year but sadly became one of the first major events postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. The new Active East Riding website includes lots of ideas for Under Fives – including babies – and families to do at home during this lockdown period. Household waste recycling sites across the East Riding are to reopen next week to give residents the chance to dispose of essential waste – but strict measures will be in place as the lockdown continues. East Riding of Yorkshire Council has relaunched its Love Your High Street fund, to help more businesses across the area in these challenging times.
