Madonna calls out seated concertgoer - then realises they're in a wheelchair

March 10, 2024

Madonna was left backtracking and apologising at one of her latest concerts after berating a fan for sitting down – only to then discover they were in a wheelchair.

Footage posted online showed the 65-year-old pausing to speak to the audience midway through a gig at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California.

"What are you doing sitting down over there?" she shouted. "What are you doing sitting down?"

The Holiday singer then made her way to the edge of the stage, where she appeared to realise the fan she had singled out was a wheelchair user.

"Oh, Okay... Politically incorrect, sorry about that," Madonna said. "I'm glad you're here."

The video has so far been watched more than 2.7 million times.

Madonna is partway through her 80-date worldwide The Celebration Tour and has this week performed four dates at LA's Kia Forum, with one more gig scheduled to take place there on Monday.

The wheelchair incident was filmed at Thursday night's performance, where fans also saw Madonna join forces with another pop icon for the first time.

The star invited Kylie Minogue on stage and together they performed the Australian singer's hit Can't Get You Out of My Head and a cover of Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive.

Thankfully for fans who weren't at the concert, Madonna soon posted footage of the moment on Instagram.
