The 18-year-old woman died in hospital after falling unwell at SWG3 on 2 January.

Police Scotland said officers are looking at drugs as one line of inquiry.

The woman is the third teenager to have died after an event at SWG3 in the past few months.

A spokesperson for SWG3 told Sky News: "Whilst the venue already meets or exceeds all relevant safety and security regulations, we have taken a decision to postpone a number of events during January while we carry out a detailed review of systems and procedures."

In August, Scott Allison and Marcus Dick, both 18, collapsed and died after attending the same event where DJ Ben Hemsley was headlining.

Their deaths, which were not believed to be connected, were treated as drug-related.

In a Facebook post, SWG3 stated it was "truly devastated" over the woman's "tragic death".

It said its commitment to safety remains its "highest priority", adding: "We take significant measures to prevent the entry of illegal substances into our venue; however, we understand the importance of acknowledging the pervasive issue of drug use in today's society."

The venue's statement on Facebook continued: "Whilst we already regularly review and enhance our safety protocols in partnership with industry professionals and public agencies, we have paused some forthcoming events as we re-examine and consider the wider factors that can lead to such heartbreaking incidents."

Police Scotland said its investigation to establish the full circumstances of the woman's death is ongoing.

A force spokesperson said: "We were made aware on Friday 5 January 2024 that a woman had become unwell at a premises on Eastvale Place, Glasgow, on Tuesday 2 January.

"An 18-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

"Next of kin have been informed and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
