Boy, 16, stabbed to death on New Year's Eve in London named by police

A 16-year-old boy who was stabbed to death on New Year's Eve in London has been named by police.

Harry Pitman was attacked at about 11.30pm in Primrose Hill on Sunday night, the Met police said.

Officers have launched a murder investigation and have appealed for information from any witnesses, including mobile phone or dashcam and CCTV footage.

Police were called to the scene minutes after the attack and officers gave first aid to the victim before ambulance crews arrived.

The boy was pronounced dead shortly before midnight.

A male has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in police custody.

Harry's family will be supported by specialist officers, the Metropolitan Police said.

Primrose Hill is a popular spot for people watching the fireworks on New Year's Eve and police said it was busy at the time of the incident.

Extensive police cordons remain in place as forensic examinations of the scene and the surrounding area are carried out.
