The family of a woman killed in a suspected hit-and-run crash alongside her two dogs have paid tribute to the "loving mother".

Marie Theobald, 48, was walking with her two pets Riley and Honey when she was hit by a car, which is believed to be a white Seat Leon, on Friday on Manford Way, Chigwell.

The driver failed to stop at the scene and a man has been arrested by officers investigating the crash and taken into custody.

In a statement released by her family, Ms Theobald, from Hainault, east London, was described as "a loving mother, partner, daughter, sister, niece and friend".

They said: "Marie was an honest, hardworking, selfless woman who would do anything for anyone.

"Marie always put others first.

"The dogs Riley and Honey were much loved members of the family. They adored Marie as she adored them.

"May they all rest in perfect peace together."
