December 23, 2023

A grieving dad paid tribute to his "dearly missed" son after the boy's mother was charged with murder.

Kobi Dooly, four, died after being found with knife injuries in Hackney, east London, on Wednesday night.

His father, named as Ben, gave a statement to the Metropolitan Police remembering his son.

"With heavy hearts we bid farewell to Kobi," Ben said. "You will be so dearly missed.

"The joy and laughter you brought to the world has been taken far too soon, we will be thinking of you day and night for eternity until we meet you again.

"The family would like to acknowledge and appreciate all messages of support, please respect our family privacy at this very difficult time."

Met Police officers were called to an address on Montague Road over concerns about a child's welfare, where they found the four-year-old injured at the scene and arrested Keziah Macharia, the boy's 41-year-old mother.

Kobi was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

Macharia was charged with murdering her four-year-old son, and appeared in custody at Thames Magistrates' Court on Friday.

She is scheduled to appear at London's Old Bailey on 28 December.
