A family devastated by the loss of their daughter in a fatal car crash have revealed they received her final exam results three days after her death.

Lucy Leahy, 23, was driving home from Milton Keynes to Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire, when the collision happened at around 6.30pm on the A509 on 24 November.

A driver of a black pickup truck travelling southbound towards Bozeat collided with a silver Ford Mondeo and then Ms Leahy's Citroen, both travelling in the opposite direction.

Her family said she was awaiting the results of her final chartered accountancy exams.

They revealed she had passed, saying: "This significant accomplishment was confirmed just three days after she died."

The family said they were "enthusiastically anticipating" celebrating the achievement which marked Lucy's "challenging five-year journey to become a chartered accountant".

Lucy's parents, twin sister, two older sisters, and her partner who lived with Lucy in Irthlingborough, paid tribute to the "cherished" woman.

Claire Shakespeare, Lucy's mother, said on behalf of the family: "We are all devastated by this immense loss and kindly request privacy as we deeply mourn Lucy's untimely departure and try to cope with the passing of our cherished daughter, sister, and partner."

The family thanked the emergency services and members of the public who attended to her at the scene of the collision.

Northamptonshire Police has appealed to witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to contact the force.
