Lee Woods, 28, was arrested at the city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) on 18 July.

It is alleged he was impersonating a member of the nursing staff at the time.

Woods appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court the following day where he faced a charge of breach of the peace.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled to take place on 10 January 2024, with a trial date set for 31 January.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with impersonating a member of nursing staff at a hospital in Glasgow on Tuesday 18 July.

"He was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday 19 July. A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

The QEUH campus includes the Royal Hospital for Children (RHC), two accident and emergency departments - one for adults and one for children, and the Queen Elizabeth Spinal Injuries Unit.

A statement from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) said onsite teams had provided support to the "relevant authorities" responding to the alleged incident.

It added: "The safety of our patients, staff and visitors across all of our sites is a priority to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

"We would like to reassure members of the public that our onsite security teams work very hard to ensure the safety and security of our facilities for all those who need to use them."
