Borussia Dortmund team bus given parking ticket after Champions League win over Newcastle

October 26, 2023

Borussia Dortmund's team bus was slapped with a £50 fine as it was parked up in Tynemouth.

It follows the club's 1-0 win over Newcastle United at St James' Park in Wednesday's Champions League clash.

North Tyneside Council confirmed the vehicle had been fined after parking on Grand Parade in the seaside town.

It added it could have a "word with Eddie and the lads" to see if they can "collect the fine for us... after they get their revenge" on 7 November.

Newcastle, who are playing in the Champions League for the first time in 20 years, will pay a visit to the Bundesliga club next month.

Eddie Howe's side played their first group game against AC Milan in Italy, drawing 0-0, then thrashed Paris Saint-Germain 4-1 at St James' Park.

North Tyneside Council confirmed it issued the Dortmund team bus with a fine.

In a statement, the local authority said: "Our Civil Enforcement Officers are obliged to issue a ticket when a vehicle is parked in contravention to restrictions in place.

"We can confirm earlier today, a £50 ticket was given to a bus parked on Grand Parade, Tynemouth. The charge will reduce to £25 if paid within 14 days.

"If it makes it easier for our visitors, we will have a word with Eddie and the lads to see if they can collect it for us on 7 November after they get their revenge in Dortmund.

"We hope the ticket and the grey North East weather didn't dampen their trip to our stunning coastline."
