Daniel Knorr managed to get near the stumps and throw orange paint powder early on the first day of the second Test at Lord's in London.

Knorr was one of two protesters who ran on the pitch before the England wicketkeeper - a former keen rugby league player - took matters into his own hands

Footage shows Bairstow pick Knorr up and escort him off the field.

Jacob Bourne, the other Just Oil Protester, was stopped by security staff while a third, Judit Murray, was halted at the boundary.

The match was delayed for around four minutes as the orange paint powder was removed by ground staff.

Bairstow had to briefly leave to change his top, which was covered in orange powder, and the match resumed when he returned.

Knorr, from Oxford, said before his sentencing that he would continue to disrupt sporting events.

Bourne and Murray were also sentenced to a 12-month community order and all three must carry out 60 hours of unpaid work and pay costs of £444 each.

The protesters were each convicted of aggravated trespass at Westminster Magistrates Court last month.

They told the court they chose to disrupt the match because the Ashes is of worldwide interest.

It was the group's latest demonstration after Just Stop Oil activists disrupted the World Snooker Championship and the English Premiership Rugby final at Twickenham.
