Lincolnshire: Police storm yoga class after people lying on floor mistaken for 'mass killing'

September 07, 2023

Police interrupted a peaceful yoga class after people seen lying on the floor were mistaken for a "mass killing".

Officers stormed the Seascape Cafe inside the North Sea Observatory in Chapel St Leonards, Lincolnshire, after a concerned member of the public raised the alarm.

But they were greeted by surprised and bemused people taking part in a meditation session on Wednesday night.

The cafe shared details of the unfortunate incident on its Facebook page.

The post said: "If any one heard the mass of police sirens in Chapel St Leonard's at 9:30pm last night then please be reassured.

"They were on their way to the Observatory after someone had reported a mass killing in our building. Having seen several people laying on the floor...which actually turned out to be the yoga class in meditation.

"Thank you to Lincolnshire Police for their prompt response. I can't imagine for one moment what would have being going through their minds on the way."

The cafe assured the general public that the Observatory regularly hosts yoga classes in the evenings, adding: "We are not part of any mad cult or crazy clubs.

"All in all this situation turned out positive and we are of course grateful."

Facebook users couldn't help but see the funny side, with one person commenting: "Wow that is good yoga - they must have all looked exceptionally relaxed!"

Another joked: "I bet the police needed meditation after that."
