An Aberdeen priest has resigned after an investigation was launched into his conduct following a complaint.

Reverend Canon Terry Taggart has left his role as rector of St Mary's Episcopal Church.

The Scottish Episcopal Church would not confirm what the probe was about but said Mr Taggart would not be returning to ministry with the church.

A spokesperson said: "Terry Taggart has resigned as rector of St Mary's in Aberdeen and from his role with the diocese.

"He will not be returning to ministry with the Scottish Episcopal Church.

"An internal church process was commenced following the lodging of a complaint. Terry Taggart resigned following the lodging of that complaint."
