Police offer £50,000 reward over drive-by Moss Side shooting which injured two teenage girls

July 30, 2023

A £50,000 reward is being offered for information in connection with a drive-by shooting which injured two teenage girls.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has renewed an appeal to catch the "dangerous" criminals responsible for the incident, which took place outside an address in Quinney Crescent in Moss Side, Manchester, shortly before 10.30pm on 29 July 2022.

A 16-year-old girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries, while another girl, 13, was hurt by shrapnel from the firearm.

The victims were attending a party marking the anniversary of the death of a pensioner, officers said at the time.

Both have since made a full recovery.

Detective Inspector Madeline Kelly, of GMP's major crime review team, said: "The reckless and dangerous actions of those firing a gun that night could easily have had tragic consequences.

"We do not believe the two girls were the intended targets that night and were instead simply at the address enjoying a party.

"The actions of those responsible demonstrate that they have zero regard for who they could have hurt. They are dangerous and GMP is determined to find them and hold them to account for such a callous and cowardly attack."

DI Kelly urged those who were in the area between 10pm and 11pm on the night of the shooting to get in touch, as well as anyone else who thinks they can help the police investigation.

"We now have a £50,000 reward available for anyone who has key information that can lead to the successful conviction of those responsible for this horrific attack," she said.

Anyone with information can visit the force's website to submit details, as well as images or video footage.
