A Tennessee soccer coach has been detained after videos of him allegedly sexually assaulting children were found on a phone he left behind in a restaurant, police have said.

Camilo Hurtado Campos, 56, has been charged on allegations of child rape and sexual exploitation of a minor, after workers in the restaurant searched the left behind phone to see if they could find any information that would link it back to its owner.

However, staff went on to find "unconscionable videos" featuring what police said were children aged between nine and 17.

Franklin Police Department said he was being held on a $525,000 (£409,000) bond.

In a statement, police said: "During an immediate and tireless investigation, detectives found hundreds of disturbing videos and pictures on that phone. In many of them, Campos recorded himself raping unconscious boys between approximately nine and 17 years old."

Police also alleged Campos used his position as a soccer coach to lure children to his home where he would attack them.

Officers said: "During off-hours, Campos frequented nearby school playgrounds... where he approached kids and recruited them as players on his team.

"After gaining their trust, Campos invited many of the kids to his home where he drugged and then raped them."

At least 10 children were found among the dozens of videos on Campos' phone, police said, with detectives identifying two of them and asking those who knew him to help with the other eight children.

"Detectives say that the children in these videos were in such an unconscious state, that they might not even realise that they are victims," police added.
