July 07, 2023

A foot-fondling prowler has been breaking into hotel rooms at a holiday resort in the US, police have warned.

Two women staying at a Lake Tahoe resort in Stateline, Nevada, reported intrusions to their rooms on July 2 and 3.

In both incidents, the women were staying in separate ground floor rooms.

They woke up to find the intruder "fondling their feet", said Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

"Once the female guests woke up, the intruder left the room via the exterior sliding screen door," it said in a statement.

"In both cases, the victim's rooms were on the ground floor and it is suspected at this time that the suspect entered the rooms via the unsecured exterior screen door."

Police said they were investigating the incidents.

"In the meantime, residents and guests staying in the Lake Tahoe area are reminded to secure all exterior doors to their homes/rented rooms," the sheriff's office added.

Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, straddling the border of California and Nevada, and is known for its beaches and ski resorts.
