Police were called to the scene shortly after 5.20pm today after the man, believed to be in his 30s, also threatened to harm himself.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said officers are trying to speak to the man, "and bring the situation to a swift conclusion to ensure his safety and welfare."

The London Ambulance Service is also at the scene.
