Sarah Henshaw: Murder investigation launched after 31-year-old woman goes missing in Derbyshire

June 25, 2023

Police have launched a murder investigation following the disappearance of a 31-year-old woman in Derbyshire.

Sarah Henshaw was last seen at her home in Ilkeston at around 9pm on Tuesday.

Her disappearance has been described as "very out of character" and Derbyshire Police say they have information which suggests she "may be seriously hurt or deceased".

A man has been arrested in connection with the investigation and remains in custody.

The launch of the murder probe comes after police said on Saturday that they were "seriously concerned" about Sarah's whereabouts.

Detective Inspector Maria Pleace said: "We have information in relation to Sarah's disappearance that has led us to believe that she may be seriously hurt or deceased."

She added: "Sarah's disappearance is very out of character and finding her is our number one priority at this time.

"I would like to appeal to the public for CCTV and dashcam footage as stated or any other information that may be of use to our investigation."

Police in Derbyshire say they are especially interested in footage of a blue Ford Transit van from the early hours of Wednesday around the area of junction 29 of the M1 and the A617 in Chesterfield.

Ms Henshaw is described as white and of a medium build, with long and straight dark hair which she wears in a bun. She also has a tattoo on her right foot.

Police say she is thought to have been wearing a black lightweight coat, a khaki green top, blue skinny jeans, and black flat pumps when she went missing.
