Harry's historic moment in court is over - it's now time to find out whether he, or the King, was right

June 07, 2023

With a wave and a little smile and no doubt huge relief, Harry left the building.

That's it, his job is done and his historic moment as a High Court witness is over.

It hasn't been easy for him, but he always knew it wouldn't be.

And that last question from his own barrister was quite telling; "How are you feeling?"

Harry's long pause ended in an answer so faint no one in court could make it out.

"It's a lot" was his reply.

Because this really has been a lot. Harry has taken a huge risk in taking on the tabloids.

But such is his conviction he has a case, and a wider cause, he wanted this moment to prove he was illegally hacked.

He also wants to hold those responsible to account.

That's the bigger mission. Because although he told the court he was there to stop the hate against Meghan, there is a greater aim.

He's pitched himself as a crusader of change when it comes to the media.

But even if he wins this case, there are still questions about how much he will achieve.

Can he, on this personal crusade, gather enough support and interest to evoke a wider reform?

That'll be for the public and politicians to decide.

Many seemed to think he did well in court, he didn't lose his rag, and remained composed throughout.

One observer told me Harry entered the court today like "he'd had his Weetabix".

But for now, he returns home, and waits.

The judge's ruling will take time, especially as he knows his words will be read all over the world, and whatever he decides, this could well end up in the Court of Appeal.

The Royal Family will certainly be glad it's over.

Harry's had a lot to say about them, but this time it really was about him and his battle with the press.

The King once described Harry's court cases as a "suicide mission".

In a few months' time we will find out if he was right or not.
