Charles Richards, of Nantyglo in Brynmawr, Blaenau Gwent, was found guilty of causing criminal damage to a police vehicle at Cardiff Magistrates Court earlier this month.

Richards pulled in front of a GoSafe van - which monitors speed, mobile phone and seat belt driving offences - and came to a stop on a dual carriageway.

Footage from the van's CCTV shows he exited his car after he pulled in on the A4106 near Porthcawl at around 4.45pm on Sunday, 9 April.

He was seen walking towards the van with what appeared to be a yellow utility knife.

After he slashed the van's front tyre, he returned to his car and drove away.

The 38-year-old was arrested on 22 April and later charged with causing criminal damage to a police vehicle.

He was found guilty of the offence on 11 May and ordered to pay a £1,066 fine, £426 victim surcharge, £85 court costs and £43 compensation.
