It comes after the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) warned of a "very high risk" of wildfires across the country due to the warm weather.

Emergency crews were alerted to the fire at a farm near Cannich on Sunday afternoon.

The SFRS said operations control initially deployed one appliance to the scene, which increased to nine including specialist resources over the course of the weekend.

A helicopter was also brought in to douse the affected site in water.

Two firefighters sustained injuries while tackling the flames and were transported to hospital via air ambulance.

Balintore Fire Station said its crews were tasked with extinguishing hotspots around the perimeter of one sector.

The station was called upon again on Monday night to join teams from Beauly and Newtonmore.

In an update on Tuesday morning, Balintore Fire Station tweeted pictures of the fire and said crews remain at the scene.

A SFRS spokesperson said: "As of Tuesday, we currently have five appliances on the scene, where firefighters are continuing to extinguish the fire and prevent further fire spread."

On Friday, the SFRS issued a wildfire warning across east, central and southern Scotland through to Monday.

The service warned that a build up of dead grass and heather left over from last year can dry quickly as temperatures rise and be at risk of going up in flames.

Niall MacLennan, the SFRS group commander, said: "Numerous wildfires across Scotland this spring - including a wildfire at Kinlochmoidart which spanned the course of three days - have shown how real the danger of fire is in the countryside and how damaging it can be to the environment, wildlife and nearby communities.

"With rising temperatures this weekend and further dry conditions into next week, wildfires could burn and spread with very high intensity in high-risk areas.

"Therefore, it is crucial that people act responsibly when enjoying the outdoors and please think twice before using anything involving a naked flame."
