Warwickshire car crash: Two teenagers die and five people seriously hurt after two-car crash

April 22, 2023

Two teenagers have died after a car crash in Warwickshire on Friday, police have said.

The 17-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl were airlifted to hospital after a crash between two cars on the B4035 Campden Road near Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire, shortly after 4pm.

They have both since died, Warwickshire Police said on Saturday, with their next of kin informed.

The teenagers were travelling in a Ford Fiesta with a 16-year-old boy who was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital and remains in a critical condition, and another 17-year-old boy, who is now in a stable condition after surgery.

The collision also involved a Fiat 500, driven by a woman with two children, who all suffered serious injuries but are in a stable condition in hospital.

Separately, a man who collapsed at the scene due to a medical condition received treatment before being released.

An investigation is now under way to "piece together the circumstances of the collision", police said.

Inspector Michael Huntley, from Warwickshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident involving several young people, and our thoughts go out to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives, to those who have been injured, and to the local community who may have been affected by this incident."

Specially-trained family liaison officers are supporting the families involved, he added.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said paramedics arriving at the scene found two cars with "very significant damage".

An appeal has been made for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage.
