Here's how Sky News will cover the King's coronation - with Joanna Lumley set to join Kay Burley for the historic event

Dame Joanna Lumley will join the Sky News line-up for its coverage of the coronation of King Charles.

The Absolutely Fabulous actress will join Sky News' royal events commentator Alastair Bruce and presenters Kay Burley and Anna Botting as they guide viewers through the historic ceremonial proceedings.

The coronation of the King and Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May, with Sky News providing live TV coverage, special programmes and podcasts.

Dame Joanna is joining Sky News for a historic royal occasion once again having also been a special guest for coverage of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The much-loved British actress will join the Sky News line-up fresh from attending the coronation as a guest of the King and Queen Consort.

Nearly 70 years after Queen Elizabeth's coronation - a milestone for TV broadcasting - a new generation of people around the world will be able to watch the King and Queen Consort crowned for free on Sky News.

Viewers will get the best seat in the house wherever they are and on any device with multiple live stream cameras available to watch on the website, app and on YouTube.

The cameras will be located at key locations for the day's events, offering unprecedented access to the pomp and pageantry.

In the days before the historic occasion, a special 30-minute documentary called My King, My Country will air on Sky News at 8pm on Sunday 30 April.

The documentary travels the country exploring public opinion towards the King and the monarchy, taking a temperature test for support, and looking at the challenges that may be ahead for the new head of state.

It will also be available to watch on the Sky News website, YouTube and On Demand on TV.

Meanwhile, a three-episode podcast miniseries called "Queen Camilla: For The Love Of Charles" will launch on 3 May.

Fronted by Kay Burley, the podcast will follow Camilla's journey to becoming Queen, speaking with those who know her well and asking how the Queen Consort and the palace have turned public opinion from her being the "most hated woman in Britain" to being embraced as the new Queen.

Sky News' coronation coverage will be available to watch for free on Sky News TV (Freeview 233, Sky channel 501, Virgin 603, BT 313, Saorview 23) and on Sky Showcase (7am-3pm). Ultra HD coverage will be from 9am to 5pm with a UHD 4k HDR compatible TV.

Advert breaks will be removed between 9am and 3pm on Sky News to ensure uninterrupted coverage of the main Coronation programme on Saturday 6 May.
