Paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service and the Wales Air Ambulance attended the crash involving a gritting vehicle and the boy.

He is being treated in hospital and his injuries are thought to be life-threatening, police say.

The 36-year-old man who was driving the gritter was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention.

He has since been released as the police continue their investigation.
