Dame Vivienne Westwood: Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss among stars at fashion designer's funeral

February 16, 2023

Stars of the fashion, acting and music worlds turned out to pay tribute to the late designer Dame Vivienne Westwood at a memorial service to celebrate her life held at Southwark Cathedral in London on Thursday.

Dame Vivienne, who died aged 81 in December, was one of the country's greatest designers, first coming to attention during the rise of punk in the 1970s then subsequently reinventing herself over the following decades.

She was responsible for some of fashion's most famous designs - including her take on the corset, the "mini-crini"- as well as parodying classical English looks, and for her use of Harris Tweed and tartan.

Many of those attending the ceremony paid tribute to Westwood in their outfits: actress Helena Bonham Carter wore a red and purple full tartan skirt and blazer set, paired with a Westwood pearl necklace.

Former Spice Girl and designer Victoria Beckham wore a skin-tight black dress, while British Vogue editor Edward Enninful dressed in an all-black suit and blazer ensemble. Dame Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of US Vogue, also attended in trademark black.

Supermodel Kate Moss wore a black dress with a floral design and a black blazer, while her daughter Lila Grace Moss Hack, also a model, paired her outfit with a Westwood red bag. Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon accompanied his model wife and daughter, Yasmin and Amber.

Actress Dame Vanessa Redgrave was also in attendance in a camel coat and hat alongside her daughter, actress Joely Richardson, who wore a camel and black suit over a lime green top.

Singer Bob Geldof, Australian rocker Nick Cave and his fashion designer wife Susie Cave, singer Paloma Faith and model and author Lily Cole were also among the guests.
