Search continues for man missing without coat in freezing conditions in Highlands

December 14, 2022

CCTV images have been released showing a man who has been missing for three days without a coat in freezing conditions in the Highlands.

Police said they are "growing increasingly concerned" for Rodrigo Falcon who disappeared while a Met Office yellow warning was in place for most of Scotland.

The 33-year-old was last seen heading down Grampian Road towards the southern end of Aviemore at around 3.10am on Sunday.

He had no coat on and was wearing just a jumper and baggy jeans.

The last few days have seen Scotland record the coldest night since 11 February 2021.

A temperature of -15.7C (3.74F) was recorded on Monday in Braemar, Aberdeenshire, for the second night in a row.

Police said searches are continuing and released CCTV images of the last sighting of him.

Chief Inspector Alasdair McLeod, south Highland area commander, said: "As time goes on we are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Rodrigo.

"It is obvious from the response we have had that there is great concern in the community for his wellbeing and I would like to thank the local community for their assistance so far.

"Local officers, along with specialist officers, are continuing to carry out extensive searches.

"We are also identifying further CCTV opportunities in the area and in particular would welcome assistance from local businesses or residents who may have private CCTV.

"As part of our inquiries, it has been established that Rodrigo was not wearing his brown woollen coat, but was seen on CCTV wearing his red jumper and baggy jeans with no coat.

"He is described as being 5ft 6in tall, of slim build, with dark hair cut in a mullet style with a moustache and beard."

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr Falcon should call 101, quoting reference 2387 of 11 December.
