Owami Davies: Third man arrested on suspicion of murder over missing student nurse in south London

August 03, 2022

A third man has been arrested on suspicion of murder by detectives searching for a student nurse who went missing in south London, the Metropolitan Police said.

Owami Davies, 24, from Grays, Essex, left her family home almost a month ago on 4 July.

She was last seen just after midnight on Derby Road, West Croydon, on 7 July but has not been seen since.

The force said a 32-year-old man was arrested at an address in South Croydon on Tuesday in connection with her disappearance.

It follows the arrest of two men, aged 23 and 27, in the Croydon area on suspicion of murder on Monday.

They remain in custody at a south London police station.

Detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command were searching a property in Derby Road on Wednesday as part of their enquiries.

The property has been cordoned off and two gazebo tents have been erected to the side of the house and the window in the front door has been smashed.

Omolade, 28, a student who lives next door and did not wish to give his last name, said the police turned up at the house at around 3am on Sunday.

He said he has seen a "woman and a young guy" who live there, adding: "It's a family."

Asked about living next to a potential crime scene, he said: "It's just a little bit scary because you just don't know really who your neighbours are.

"I don't talk to them or anything but at least it's scary, like just living next to someone you don't know anything about - it's just scary."

Announcing the latest arrest, the Met Police said: "This remains a missing person investigation and our priority is finding Owami."

The force added: "Owami's family are being kept updated about the progress of the investigation."

Witnesses or anyone with any information about Ms Davies' whereabouts can call police on 101 quoting reference 22MIS025307 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
