A man has been charged with murdering his wife after her body was found in South Yorkshire.

Abi Fisher's body was found on Monday in undergrowth near Brierley in South Yorkshire.

Her husband Matthew, 29, from Castleford, has been charged with murder.

The couple share a young child.

Mr Fisher was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Mrs Fisher, a school teacher, was last seen on Friday 8 July just before midnight on Walton Park Street in Castleford.

In a statement, Mrs Fisher's family said "words cannot describe" how "utterly devastated" they are.

They said Mrs Fisher, also 29, was their "beautiful angel" and they miss her "dearly".

"We promise to make you proud every single day, and will continue to bring up your amazing little baby girl the way you would," the family said.

"Heaven may have gained an angel but we have lost you and that for us seems like the most unjust act to happen."

They continued: "We as a family would like to thank every single person who showed enough heart and love to look for our precious angel. Words will never describe how much this means.

"For now, our beautiful angel, we love you so much."
