The player is in his 20s but cannot be named for legal reasons.

The Metropolitan Police said on Tuesday that an allegation of rape was made by a woman in her 20s on 4 July.

That was regarding an alleged incident in June this year.

The man was arrested in Barnet, north London, on the same day.

Police said: "While in custody, he was further arrested on suspicion of two incidents of rape that were alleged to have been committed in April and June of 2021 against a different woman in her 20s.

"He has subsequently been released on bail to a date in August.

"Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing."
