Storm Eunice: What is it like in your area?

Storm Eunice is sweeping across the country, with a number of weather warnings in place for the UK - including rare red warnings for wind.

The Met Office has said it fears "significant gusts" could cause a danger to life, with Britons urged to stay at home today.

Wales

A red weather warning for wind is in place for Cardiff and Swansea with an amber warning covering the rest of the country.

The red warning indicates significant disruption and dangerous conditions due to extremely strong winds. Widespread inland gusts of 70mph to 80mph are likely and could rise as high as 90mph in some coastal communities.

The amber warning indicates there is a "good chance" flying debris could result in a danger to life, with damage to buildings and homes likely.

An overturned lorry has caused disruptions along the M4.

England

North East

A yellow weather warning is in force and covers parts of the region including Durham, Hartlepool, Sunderland and Darlington.

This came into force at 7am and is due to last until 6pm tonight.

Areas of the northeast are without power, with Northern Powergrid warning of a relatively "high likelihood" of further disruption.

North West

An amber warning covers the region - including Liverpool, Manchester, Bolton, Blackpool and Preston.

This came into force at 5am today and is due to last until 9pm tonight.

Blackpool Transport has suspended all tram services for the rest of the day.

The storm has also brought down a huge tree in Trafford Park, which reportedly narrowly missed hitting a heavy goods vehicle. Train passengers are facing cancellations and delays of up to an hour due to a fallen tree near Stockport.

Yorkshire and the Humber

An amber warning is covering parts of the region, including Doncaster, Grimsby and Scunthorpe. This came into force at 5am today and is set to last until 9pm tonight.

A yellow warning covers the rest of the region. This is in place from 7am today until 6pm tonight.

The Humber Bridge was closed to all vehicles from 1.30pm and will remain closed as the storm crosses the region.

East Midlands

An amber weather warning covers the region, including Nottingham, Northampton, Lincoln and Mansfield. It came into force at 5am on Friday and is due to last until 9pm tonight.

Derbyshire Police said three people had been injured after an articulated lorry was blown onto a car on the A46 near Buxton.

The two drivers and a passenger sustained minor injuries,

"Drivers of high-sided vehicles are being asked to avoid exposed routes in the county - in particular across the Peak District," said a police spokesperson.

West Midlands

An amber weather warning covers the region - including Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Worcester and Dudley. It came into force at 5am on Friday and is due to last until 9pm tonight.

East of England

A red weather warning covers parts of eastern England, including Sudbury, Braintree, Southend-on-Sea and Welwyn Garden City.

An amber warning, which lasts until 9pm tonight, covers the rest of the region - including Norwich and Cambridge.

Greater Anglia and c2c have suspended all rail services, due to trees on the line and damage to electric lines.

Hundreds of homes have been left without power with UK Power Networks reporting outages in Diss, Hapton, and Great Yarmouth, among others.

London

A red wind warning was in place for London, which indicates dangerous conditions and flying debris could result in a danger to life. The warning was in place until 3pm.

London Fire Brigade has declared a major incident due to the volume of 999 calls being made to the service.

The force took 550 calls between 10.30am and 1pm - more than the average number of calls made in a 24-hour period.

A man has been injured by falling masonry in southeast London and a second struck by a tree in Streatham.

Meanwhile, at least 456 flights to and from the UK have been cancelled, with the highest proportion of these happening at Heathrow and London City airports.

Deliveroo and UberEats have suspended services in London, for the safety of their couriers.

South East

A red warning was in place until 3pm and covered areas including Brighton, Reading, Basingstoke, Margate, Hastings and Crawley.

Chiltern Railways, Southeastern and Great Western Railway has suspended all services.

The Isle of Wight has reported record-breaking winds of 122mph at The Needles, and away from the coastlines, in Andover Hampshire, gusts have reached 70mph.

Deliveroo and UberEats have suspended services in the region.

South West

A red warning was in force for this region - covering areas including Bournemouth, Camborne and Barnstaple - until 3pm.

An amber warning covers the rest of the region.

Southwestern Rail and GWR have suspended all services.

Devon and Cornwall police said they have received over four times the amount of calls they usually take, with most about fallen trees, power cables, flying debris and collapsed roofs. An elderly man was injured after part of a Bournemouth hotel collapsed on a parked car.

In Somerset, heavy winds caused a church spire to topple from St Thomas.

The latest forecast where you are

South Central Ambulance has declared a critical incident as a result of the storm, with the service seeing increased demand for its 999 service.

Ferries to and from the Isle of Wight have resumed service.

Scotland

Weather warnings for wind and snow cover most of the country.

A yellow warning for snow in the north of the country means there is a chance of travel delays on roads, which may also result in stranded vehicles and passengers - along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.

There is a chance the snow could see some more rural communities could be temporarily cut off, with power cuts and a potential impact on mobile phone coverage.

A yellow warning for wind covers some parts of the very south of the country.

Northern Ireland

Yellow warnings for both snow and wind are in place for Northern Ireland today.

The warning for snow is in place across the whole country.

Meanwhile, a wind warning covers the east of the country, including Belfast. This indicates there is a chance of damage to trees and buildings, and longer journey times.

There is also a chance some roads and bridges could close, and the risk of power cuts.
