Derby: Police appeal after car drives into Sainsbury's supermarket, showing 'poor standard of driving'

December 19, 2021

Police have appealed for a "cleaner in the pet food aisle" after a car was driven through a supermarket window.

Officers tweeted pictures of the red Audi embedded in a Sainsbury's in Osmaston Park Road in Derby.

An initial look at CCTV shows a "poor standard of driving in (the) car park", the Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit said.

The investigation is "ongoing" but no injuries have been reported.

There has, however, been "lots of damage", illustrated by a picture of shelving and products strewn across the shop floor.

"In-store cleaner required in the pet food aisle please," the police tweet added.

The car's bumper and bonnet were crumpled, and its roof covered in what appeared to be shards of glass.

Police finished their tweet with a hashtag: #DriveToArrive
