In a rematch of this year's epic Australian Open final, in which Medvedev led by two sets to love before Sinner stormed back to claim his first grand slam title, the 22-year-old made light work of his opponent this time out.

Sinner dropped only three games as he romped to a 6-1 6-2 victory in just 69 minutes to reverse the result of last year's final.

The Italian lost his only match of the season so far to Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals in Indian Wells two weeks ago but has been dominant once more in Florida.

Serena Williams was among the crowd in attendance, and some fans at Hard Rock Stadium jeered Medvedev late in the second set after two wild errors, with the Russian completely outplayed by his opponent.

Sinner, who can overtake Alcaraz as world No 2 by winning the title, told Sky Sports after his win: "I felt great on court today. I served very well, especially in important moments.

"I handled the situation well in the beginning of each set. He had some break chances. If he makes them, it's already much different.

"I'm very happy. I think Daniil didn't play his best today, he missed some shots which he usually doesn't miss, but I took the chance and I'm very happy to be in the final."

Sinner is the first man to reach back-to-back Miami Open finals since John Isner in 2018 and 2019.

Dimitrov overcomes Zverev to reach final

Sinner will meet Grigor Dimitrov in the final after the Bulgarian defeated Alexander Zverev 6-4 6-7 (4) 6-4.

After losing the second set, Dimitrov managed to wrestle momentum back from the German, coming from a break down to clinch the result in two hours and 37 minutes.

The victory ensures the 32-year-old will move back into the top 10 for the first time since 2018.

Dimitrov has been in fine form in recent weeks, defeating top-10 players Carlos Alcaraz and Hubert Hurkacz at the Miami Open before this semi-final victory over Zverev.

"I think the consistency of beating top players, that to me is a bigger success than anything else," Dimitrov said.

"If you do that, you get the ranking. If you do that, things are just getting better for you... I think the discipline brought me to this moment. There is nothing else. I didn't kind of deviate from my target.

"I had small targets throughout - every single week I had a target, and also to be able to put my body through all that on a daily basis was also very important for me. When you start putting all that together, I think it's what I'm most proud of."

Against Sinner he needs to employ his diverse array of skills to the best of his ability.

"I know I have a lot of tools in my bag that I can use, but also I need to make sure that I use them at the right time," Dimitrov said.

"I think today, for example, I was able to, especially in the third set, I was able to use those ones, you know, the finesse, use the slice a little bit more, be a little bit more aggressive with my forehand, serve and volley, coming in."

The women's final on Saturday sees American Danielle Collins face No 4 seed Elena Rybakina. You can watch it live on Sky Sports Tennis from 4.30pm.
