East Riding of Yorkshire Council is excited to offer a variety of events and exhibitions across the region, from the coast to the countryside. Take a look at what’s happening this Easter!

 Spotlight on Sewerby Hall and Gardens Easter Adventures

Easter at Sewerby Hall and Gardens will see two weeks of fun activities and events, including the legendary medieval jousting on Easter Sunday.

The events programme offers fun for all the family to enjoy:

25 March and 1 April :

  • Rusticus Encounter - Viking : 11.30am – 3pm: join Viking shield maiden, Freydis, and take part in outdoor activities and games

26 March and 2 April :

  • Rusticus - Knights of the Round Table! : 11.30am -3pm: Sir Prancealot and page Prentice share what it takes to be knights of the Round Table

27 March and 3 April :

  • Easter Magic and Face Painting : come and join Mr Bubbles with his new Easter show, full of magic, music, games and giggles for all the family. Show times in the Orangery: 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm. Face painting by our professional face painter (£3 additional charge) will be outside at the front of the Orangery from 11am - 4pm.

28 March and 4 April :

  • Rusticus Adventure: Thumbelina! : 11.30am – 3pm : Come and join our fairy spotters on their greatest adventure yet – a mission to photograph the most famous of all the fairies – Thumbelina! Trouble is she’s as tiny as your thumb and an expert in avoiding detection!

29 March :

  • Zoo activity - willow fruit kebabs: 11am – 1.30pm: make a kebab to feed to the animals, and learn about their diet and behaviour. Session times are 11am – 11.30am and 1pm – 1.30pm
  • Wildcats: Pirates : 11am - 3pm : in this Wildcats session we’ll be searching the seven seas for treasure, crafting treasure maps, chests, ships, swords and anything else pirate related, with our array of natural materials. Wildcats can be found near the games and activity area (putting green). This is an outdoor event, please dress for the weather.

Easter Sunday, 31 March :

  • Medieval Jousting : the ever-popular Medieval Jousting spectacular returns for 2024. The day features England's number one jousting team from Nottingham, who will bring approximately 20 jousters and their horses, including the Black Knight and Sir Michael of York. Jousting displays at 1pm and 2.30pm on the front events field.

5 April :

  • Zoo activity - Meet the Hoof Stock : 11am- 1.30pm : a chance to meet donkeys, llamas and goats in the zoo.
  • Wildcats – Mad Hatters Tea Party : 11am – 3pm : in this session Wildcats will be falling down the rabbit hole and fashioning characters from Alice in Wonderland. Make a tea party, a door mouse, a Cheshire cat or the Queen of Hearts from our lovely array of natural materials.

What’s on stage at Bridlington Spa

Dear Zoo: the timeless children's classic book returns to the stage! See our characters write to the Zoo on Monday 25 March and Tuesday 26 March. Who will be delivered? A cheeky monkey, a jumpy frog and of course a perfect puppy. The Magic of Mowtown: it's no surprise that this show is one of the biggest success stories in British theatre history. Get ready for the biggest Motown party of the year coming to Bridlington Spa on Saturday 30 March. What’s on in East Riding Libraries

Make Easter Automatons with Simon Crook: On Monday 25 March, 1pm – 3pm, discover what ingenious and playful devices can be made from a humble paperclip and a toilet roll tube or two. In this session you’ll learn to build a hen which pecks when you turn a handle, learn about different mechanisms and hopefully get seriously inspired! Places are free but must be booked in advance. Enjoy the countryside in Goole

There will be a chance to enjoy the East Riding countryside this week. People of all ages are welcome to joint the Spring Clean at Oakhill Nature Reserve, Goole, on Thursday, 28 March between 10am and 1pm. This free event will be an opportunity to take part in the Great British Spring Clean, promoted by Keep Britain Tidy and be a part of the nation’s biggest mass-action environmental change.  Meet at Oakhill Nature Reserve near the car park, off Tom Pudding Way, Goole.
