The 39-year-old designer will officially become part of the Fab Five in season nine of the show, joining Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown and Tan France.

It comes after Bobby Berk announced he was leaving back in November having served as the interior design expert during the first eight seasons.

The hit show premiered in 2018 and is a reboot of the original 2003 series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

It has since won 11 Emmy awards and currently holds the record for the most wins in the Structured Reality Programme category with six consecutive triumphs.

Berk revealed he had decided not to sign a deal committing him to four more seasons of the show last year.

This was largely because he had "already starting preparing for his next chapter", he said in an interview with Vanity Fair.

He also confirmed he had clashed with co-star and fashion guru France, which led to him unfollowing the star on Instagram.

"Tan and I had a moment," he said, adding the two are like siblings and "siblings are always going to fight".

Berk's replacement, Brent, is already well-established in the industry having founded his own interior design firm in 2011.

He has also appeared in Netflix's Say I Do, a spin on Queer Eye, that focuses on weddings.

Earlier this month, he released his first book, The Space That Keeps You: When Home Becomes a Love Story, which explores what gives spaces meaning.

The new season of Queer Eye is set to go into production this spring.
