Taylor Swift 'gives out Eras tour bonuses totalling $55m' for performers and crew

August 02, 2023

If reports are to be believed, Taylor Swift is a very generous boss.

The star is said to have given bonuses totalling more than $55m (about £43m) to performers and crew working on her huge Eras tour, according to US news outlet People.

Swift has rewarded everyone from dancers to riggers, sound technicians, catering staff and more, the publication reports, citing sources.

US entertainment outlet TMZ previously reported that the 33-year-old star gifted truck drivers $100,000 (about £78,000) each ahead of shows in Santa Clara, California, over the weekend.

According to live music trade publication Pollstar, the entire tour so far has generated an estimated $300m (about £235m) in gross revenue.

Taylor Swift announces more UK tour dates in 2024

Gigi Hadid, Mark Zuckerberg, Julia Roberts, Shania Twain, Drew Barrymore, Flavour Flav and Cara Delevingne are among the famous faces that have been spotted at some of the shows.

The Eras tour began in Glendale, Arizona, in March, with the US leg due to come to an end with six dates in Los Angeles starting on Thursday.

Swift will then take the show to Central and South America, starting in Mexico on 24 August, and ending in Brazil in November.

Following a break, the star will pick up the shows in Japan in February 2024, moving to Australia and Singapore before the European leg gets under way in Paris in May 2024.

Swift's UK gigs take place in June 2024, starting in Edinburgh and ending in London.

She will cross five continents and perform more than 130 concerts as part of the tour - her first big set of shows since 2018.

Fans were given a staggered release of the pre-sale tickets for UK shows in a bid to avoid website crashes as they rushed to secure access.

Shows in the US sold out almost instantly when they went on sale last year, with fans left battling tech issues after the Ticketmaster website was overwhelmed by demand, resulting in an investigation into their system.

Swift's sets of more than 40 songs a night, with "secret songs" and special guests, has so far earned her praise from fans and critics alike.

Sky News has contacted representatives for Swift for comment.
