Gavin & Stacey: Uncle Bryn's house put up for rent in town made famous by series

May 22, 2023

A house made famous by hit television sitcom Gavin & Stacey has gone up for rent.

Fans of the sitcom will be very excited about the possibility of renting Uncle Bryn's house from the popular series filmed in South Wales.

The comedy set in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, and Billericay, Essex, first aired between 2007 and 2010 before it returned for a Christmas special in 2019.

The property was used in the series as the house of Uncle Bryn, played by comedian Rob Brydon.

The series, which began airing on BBC Three, was co-created by James Corden and Ruth Jones.

The three-bedroom property on Trinity Street is available to rent for £995 per month.

Andrew Fenton from Chris Davies Estate Agents told Sky News the series had "reignited Barry".

He said he recently returned from a family holiday where people immediately made the connection with the series when he mentioned the town.

"There is that immediate connection where as soon as the word Barry is mentioned people say 'Gavin & Stacey'", he said.

"So I think it's nationally recognised and one of those things that has put Barry, not back on the map, but shown that it's such a nice area to live."

Mr Fenton added that the town has seen considerable regeneration over recent years and said: "Who's to say the catalyst for all this wasn't Gavin & Stacey?"
