Guadalupe Rodríguez says she knew her daughter and the actor would get back together.

"I knew that you would always get back together because I prayed for 20 years," she said.

Lopez spoke about her rekindled relationship with Affleck on the TODAY show on Wednesday.

The love story

Her upcoming album This Is Me ... Now captures the "moment in time" when the couple first got together, Lopez said.

When the singer was asked how her love with Affleck may be different now, she responded: "I went on an incredible journey through my life for the past 20 years, and I think I’ve grown a lot.

"The album is really about capturing those moments in time."

"Falling in love and having that moment, then 20 years later trying to capture what this moment was, which was a very different thing," she said.

Asked if love is better a "second time round", Lopez said: "I think when you have life experience behind you, you realize what’s really important. I love what I do. I have always said that, but since I had kids, that changed for me."

She added: "Now, having a family in this way and being married, you start rejiggering everything.

"What is really important? How much do I want to work?

“You start realizing what I want to do with my life."

Lopez also said Affleck was a "wonderful" father to her children, 15-year-old twins, Max and Emme.

She said: "You know because he has his own three beautiful children and then there's us and he is fantastic, he really steps up to the challenge of what that is and what that means and they love him... and they appreciate him and so do I."

The wedding that took 20 years to happen

Last year, the couple tied the knot in a Las Vegas drive-through chapel, before sealing the deal with a second ceremony at a fairytale Georgia wedding surrounded by friends and family.

Their second nuptials took place in August 2022 on the grounds of actor and director Affleck's $8.9m (£7.5m) Georgia mansion.

Lopez, 53, wore a Ralph Lauren fishtail couture gown with a dramatic long train and veil, while her husband Affleck, 50, wore a white tuxedo jacket, black trousers and black bow tie.

This was nearly 20 years after they first got engaged in 2003.

They parted ways a year later in 2004, starting relationships with other people.

The lovestruck couple, nicknamed Bennifer by fans, confirmed they were back together in 2021 after rumours started circulating about the stars rekindling their romance.
