The Seaside FM team have been to the Hornsea Biker Event! Throughout the day a thousand bikes were expected at Hall Garth Park in Hornsea, but an astounding four thousand were estimated to have come along!

The day began with a meeting at Hornsea Garden Centre, where the bikers came together before riding through town to Hall Garth Park. We went along to see the bikers before the precession, you can see the pictures of all the bikes lined up ahead of the main event on our Facebook page.

After a bacon sandwich and a chat with the other bikers, those riding down to Hall Garth Park mounted their bikes and headed down all in unison, making a loud, but excellent sight to behold for the huge crowd of on-lookers who came in their thousands to see the spectacular sight. You can see the full precession on our Facebook page.

That wasn’t all though as the day was just starting! After the four thousand bikes filled the park and the on-lookers poured in to inspect the bikes further, food stalls and the fun fair all started up for a day that turned out to be very busy.

While we were there we bumped into Sid, the organiser who was stunned by the reception the huge biker event received. You can listen to the full chat on our below.

While we were there (apart from admiring the seemingly endless collection of bikes) we also noticed the vast array of things to do, from a fun fair to live music, there truly was something for everyone!

Throughout the day more and more bikers arrived, whether they were there to show off their bikes or admire others, the hot weather certainly didn’t anyone off as 4x the amount of bikes expected turned up!

Two wheels wasn’t a requirement either! With tricycles and quadbikes among the bikes, with a tricycle we took a picture of and posted on our social media quickly becoming our favourite! The bikes were of all ages too, with vintage bikes appearing every so often among their modern counterparts, with the oldest we found dating back to 1924!

The best thing however is it was free! There were multiple charities collecting money from the bike-lovers, including Air Ambulance, who brought their helicopter along, landing in the park as a big finale to end the fantastic day out, serving as a reminder of the importance of the fantastic charity, who fund the helicopter that saves so many lives, a charity that hits home most for bikers.
