East Riding of Yorkshire Council will be carrying out footway improvements along Main Road, Cowden, between Garthends Lane and Eelmere Lane.

The work consists of constructing a new 470m section of footpath adjacent to the existing carriageway.

The works are scheduled to start on Monday, 16 January, and will last for approximately six weeks (weather permitting). The working hours will be 8am to 5pm (Monday- Friday).

For the safety of the workforce, two-way traffic signals will be required during the works. Access will be permitted within the works areas for residents, postal, refuse and emergency services; however, at certain times, access may be delayed due to the nature of the works.

This scheme will be funded by Natural England and forms part of the England Coastal Path being developed along the East Riding coastline. These works will be carried out by CR Reynolds Ltd on the behalf of the council.

An East Riding of Yorkshire Council spokesperson said : “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these construction works, but on completion, this will provide a section of new footpath for local residents and coastal walkers.”
