New affordable housing project completed in Withernsea

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has completed the development of 16 new affordable homes on Whitethorne Avenue, Withernsea.  The £3.65m new housing development consists of ten one-bed flats and six two-bed houses. It has received funding from the council and Homes England, the housing and regeneration agency.

This development forms part of the council’s strategic priority to acquire and build new council housing across the East Riding of Yorkshire.  The new homes will be allocated through the Council’s housing allocations policy which ensures homes are let to households on the Housing Register in greatest need.

The contractor for the scheme, Morris & Spottiswood, has provided jobs and training to people in the local area.

Councillor Gary McMaster, portfolio holder for Housing and Infrastructure said “It’s great to deliver new affordable housing in Withernsea, an area of high housing need as well as support local training and jobs”
