Local NHS charity launches Christmas gift appeal

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust’s charity Health Stars is calling on the community to help bring some festive cheer to people receiving mental health care and support in hospital this Christmas.

Following the success of last year’s appeal, Health Stars is asking local residents, organisations and businesses to donate gifts to help make Christmas a little brighter for adults and young people spending the festive period in the Trust’s care.

Anita Green, Charity Manager for Health Stars, said:

“Christmas can be a difficult time for many people, particularly those who are receiving treatment in hospital and are away from their usual support networks. For some, it can be a time when feelings of loneliness and isolation feel even more pronounced.

“A gift may seem like a small gesture, but it can help someone feel remembered and connected to their community. We’re hoping the community will once again get behind the appeal and help us bring some festive cheer to patients this Christmas.”

The appeal is seeking donations of new, unwrapped gifts suitable for both adults and young people. Gifts can be dropped off at collection points across the region.

People can also support the appeal by purchasing items directly from the Health Stars Amazon Wishlist or by making a cash donation, which will be used to buy additional gifts for patients.
