East Riding Library and East Riding Leisure members can access free Boditrax body composition scans at libraries and leisure centres as part of a Public Health commissioned initiative designed to help people better understand and improve their health.
The Boditrax scanner provides a comprehensive snapshot of an individual’s health in just 30 seconds, delivering 15 different body composition measurements. These include body fat percentage, muscle mass, visceral fat, hydration levels and metabolic age, offering much greater insight than standard scales alone.
The scans are available free of charge to East Riding Library members and East Riding Leisure members only. Users can download the free Boditrax app, where they can view their results, track progress over time and set personalised health and fitness goals.
The initiative aims to encourage residents to take positive steps towards healthier lifestyles by providing accessible tools that help people make informed decisions about their wellbeing.
To support the campaign and wider efforts to improve cardiovascular health, residents can also borrow blood pressure monitors from East Riding libraries. The rollout complements activities taking place during Know Your Numbers! Week, the UK’s biggest blood pressure awareness campaign, which takes place every September.
The campaign, organised by Blood Pressure UK, takes place from Monday, 7 September to Sunday, 13 September and encourages adults to have their blood pressure checked and understand what their readings mean.
Together, the Boditrax scans and blood pressure monitor loans provide residents with practical, easy-to-access tools to better understand their health, monitor changes over time and take positive steps towards a healthier future.
Boditrax technology is available at all East Riding Leisure sites and selected libraries, the full list can be found at: www.eastridinglibraries.co.uk/more-than-books/health-zone/boditrax/
Residents can also borrow gym equipment from mobile libraries through the new ‘gym in a box’ scheme. Each box includes an under-desk bike, skipping rope, dumbbells, resistance bands, yoga block, and two exercise balls.
