Officers from East Riding of Yorkshire Council trading standards raided six businesses across the East Riding, during a recent day of action to tackle the illicit sale of tobacco.
Trading Standards Officers, assisted by Humberside Police and other partner agencies, raided the businesses, finding 17,420 cigarettes and 20.3kg of hand rolled tobacco [HRT].
The tobacco products were counterfeit or not made for the UK market, with a retail value of £9,227.
They were contrary to the Tobacco Related Products Regulations 2016, the Standardised Packaging of Tobacco Products Regulations 2015, and the Trademarks Act 1994.
The illegal products were found in multiple locations, including in under counter concealments, behind panelling and in outbuildings.
