Blood pressure checks at East Riding Leisure sites

Every year UK charity Blood Pressure UK promotes ‘Know Your Numbers!’ week – this year’s campaign runs from Monday, 8 September to Sunday, 14 September 2025.

Getting a blood pressure check is the first step to preventing heart attacks and strokes. Around a third of people in the UK have high blood pressure, but most don’t know it. High blood pressure doesn’t have any ‘symptoms’ so the only way to find out is to have a blood pressure check.

You can go to one of the East Riding Leisure pop-up events next week and get your blood pressure checked by the council’s Healthier instructors, plus support and advice depending on your measurement. You can also book in for a free NHS Health Check if you are eligible.

Monday, 8 September: Driffield 10am to 4pm, Bridlington 10am to 4pm

Tuesday, 9 September: Francis Scaife 10am to 4pm, South Holderness 11am to 3pm

Wednesday, 10 September: Haltemprice 10am to 4pm, Beverley 10am to 4pm

Thursday, 11 September: Withernsea 10am to 4pm, Hornsea 10am to 4pm

The Active Communities team works year-round to support residents and local community groups across the East Riding. If you would like the Active Communities to visit your group and offer free blood pressure checks email: active.communities@eastriding.gov.uk

During ‘Know Your Numbers!’ week the Active Communities team will also be popping up:

Monday, 8 September at Mappleton Beach Car Park, from 2 to 4pm
Tuesday, 10 September at Withernsea Library, from 10am to 12noon
Tuesday, 10 September at CYP Bridlington, from 3 to 5pm
Friday, 12 September at Bubwith Sports Centre (Walking for Health event), from 10am to 11.30am (includes a 1 hour walk).
