Vanessa Parish from Withernsea, is taking part in ‘Battle by the Seaside’ this Saturday (23 August) to raise funds for the East Riding Domestic Abuse Trust.
The event, at Hull Road Playing Fields, features an afternoon of charity boxing.
“Luckily the guys who are setting it up are helping train us as well! Which is needed!” joked Vanessa.
Having personally experienced domestic abuse, Vanessa is passionate about raising awareness and showing that support is available for anyone affected.
“I chose a small, local charity to help raise funds for people experiencing domestic abuse. Having been in such a relationship myself, I want to raise awareness and show that no one is alone. There are people and organisations ready to help women, men, and children in these situations.
The Trust provides grants for the benefit of victims and survivors of domestic abuse living in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Funds are used for the refurbishment of accommodation, essential household items, removal expenses, child-specific items and more.
