Ten new homes to be built in Patrington

A planning application for a housing development in Patrington that was initially submitted by developers almost three years ago has been approved after changes were made.

The proposals to build ten homes, were first submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council in June 2022. Since then, the application had been deferred and altered before officially receiving the green light this week.

The plans show how Guardians Road, off the A1033, would be extended westward facilitating the ten new homes which are to be built behind the houses on Hunter Close and Francis Way. The development will be comprised of six detached houses and two sets of semi-detached houses which will be built in T-shaped formation.

Each of the ten homes will have car parking spaces with three of the houses also set to have detached garages. A number of new trees and hedgerows will be planted within the site.

The initial application sought permission for eleven houses on the site. However, this was reduced to ten following its initial hearing at the council’s Eastern Area Planning Sub-Committee in November 2023 where it was deferred.

The application, in its revised ten-house form, returned to the committee in April 2025 where members again deferred the application for the approval of planning officers subject to the completion of a Section 106 agreement.

The S106 agreement included the applicant having to pay the council the sum of £26,150 as a Affordable Housing Contribution. This payment is made to support the authority’s efforts to build affordable homes rather than including such housing in the development itself.

The application was officially granted planning permission on May 12. Work on development will now have to begin within three years.
