East Riding Council has approved plans to refurbish a caravan park that suffered extensive damage in a 2024 fire.
On April 22, 2024, the Patrington Haven Leisure Park, a holiday resort in the East Riding with 487 static caravans, caught fire. As a result, the site suffered extensive smoke damage in all areas other than the gym according to planning documents.
The council has now approved plans to remodel and reconfigure heavily damaged parts of the site that were lost in the fire, whilst adding “a modest extension and draft lobby.” The applicant also used the this opportunity to attain planning permission for solar panels to be added to the roof, making the building more energy efficient.
The wider site at Patrington Haven occupies an area of around 16 hectares and is situated around 2km South-West of East Yorkshire village of Patrington. Planning documents describe the park as “a key component to the local leisure and tourism offering along the East Coast and essential to the prosperity of Patrington.”
Planning documents also confirm that the occupancy and staffing levels of the business will remain the same following the implementation of the planning application. As such staffing levels will remain at eight full time staff and twelve part time staff.
As part of this planning application the applicant sought to extend the opening hours as noted below:
Leisure: Monday – Friday – 6.30am – 9pm
Leisure: Saturday & Sunday – 6.30am – 7pm
Restaurant / Bar / Café: 6.30am – 1am
