A new public toilet block has opened on Hornsea’s seafront.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has transformed the site of a former council storage building into a ladies’ and gents’ lavatory.
The new facility, on the Sands Lane promenade between the beach and the Hornsea Hub, is free to use and includes six women’s cubicles, two men’s cubicles and urinals, and an accessible toilet, together with outside seating.
Construction work on the new building began in October 2024 and it opened in time for Easter.
The block is managed and maintained by the council and joins existing public toilets in the town at the South Promenade Boat Compound, Marine Drive and Hall Garth Park.
The work has been carried out on behalf of the council by contractors JP Developers.
Councillor Barbara Jefferson, cabinet member for heritage and coastal at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “This is a much-needed facility in a very popular part of the town and I’m extremely pleased we can provide this new public toilet for the people of Hornsea and its visitors.”
