More Bins For East Riding Homes

Mike Brown's picture

More than 100,000 homes in East Yorkshire are to get another bin in an attempt to get residents to recycle garden waste. The brown bins, which are for grass cuttings, hedge and shrub trimmings, plants and flowers, should be rolled out in October.

The collected waste will be composted instead of being sent to landfill, just like in the recent rtrail programme in the Driffield and Haltemprice areas. 1,800 tonnes was collected in the first three months and in June, 31 per cent of waste collected was diverted from landfill.

How does the Humber Bridge affect you?

Mike Brown's picture

The Humber Bridge toll is something that affects everyone in the East Riding, whether were travelling to elsewhere in the country or if were trying to attract tourists or businesses to our local areas.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council in partnership with Hull City Council, North Lincolnshire Council and North East Lincolnshire Council would like to invite more people to take part in a consultation into the impact of the Humber Bridge tolls.

Mike Brown's picture

The Withernsea Summertime Special 2008 takes place in the Valley Gardens on August 24 2008.

The event will feature a host of entertainment for the whole family between 10am and 10pm and it's absolutly free!

Unfortunatly, the regular BikeFest will not be going ahead this year as the bike club involved is not available, but there will be plenty of live music, tribute bands, stalls, children’s rides and resident DJ.

Welwick questionnaire attracts a good response.

Mike Brown's picture

A recent questionnaire in the village of Welwick has attracted a 90% response from the parish.

Many of the responses referred to the poor quality and maintenance of the pathways, as well as to the speeding traffic through the villages.

Views were expressed in the questionnaire even where none were requested, demonstrating a desire that locals want their voices to be heard! Maybe they could air them here on Seaside FM?
