Following on from the success of the Interreg North Sea region BITs funded Blue Doors cycle library project, the South Holderness Resource Centre have organised the Withernsea on Wheels (WOW) weekend - a two day cycle festival to be held in Withernsea to celebrate all things cycling.

Visitors will be able to take part in free cycling activities throughout the weekend of the 28/29 May. This event is running 11am – 4pm on both days and is free of charge.

The festival will predominantly be based at Valley Gardens in Withernsea with additional activities taking place on the promenade and at the Hut.

There will be a BMX display team, pump track, KMX Karts, weird and wonderful bikes to try out, the Red Sparrows unicycle display team, pedal powered skaletrix, guided cycle rides and much more.

The Blue Doors cycle library will be open throughout the weekend for those residents in Withernsea who would like to find out more about the scheme and who may be interested in signing up for a free library bicycle.

Yorkshire Coast Bid will also be present during the weekend to promote the launch of Route YC cycle way.

The event is funded by Yorkshire Coast Bid, the Shores Centre, Interreg North Sea Region BITS, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Active Withernsea.

Jayne Nendick, CEO of the Shores centre, said: “Following on from the amazing success of the BITS project and bike library, we are proud to announce the very first WOW weekend.

“We will be celebrating all things cycling, combined with music, food, entertainment, games and more. There will be something for everyone to see and try out. It’s going to be a ‘wheelie’ good weekend.”
