The 'Wildlife Photographer of the Year' exhibition, on loan from the Natural History Museum in London, and featuring exceptional images capturing fascinating animal behaviour, spectacular species and the breathtaking diversity of the natural world, opens at Sewerby Hall and Gardens on Saturday (7th May).
The exhibition will run until 17 July and will be accompanied by an exciting programme of events every weekend throughout its run, and events for younger visitors every Friday.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the most prestigious photography event of its kind, providing a global platform that showcases the natural world's most astonishing and challenging sights for over 55 years.
Councillor Mike Medini, portfolio holder for cultural and leisure assets, said: "I am very proud to say that this exhibition will be the first time that Sewerby Hall has hosted a national touring exhibition, and what a stunning exhibition it is!
"It's very pleasing that we are able to host this prestigious - and very important- exhibition in the East Riding once again, and now in such an iconic venue as Sewerby Hall and Gardens."
Entry to the exhibition is included in the admission price, and a range of associated merchandise will also be on sale in the Welcome Centre throughout the run of the exhibition.
Sewerby Hall and Gardens will be putting on a varied programme of events and activities at weekends throughout the exhibition. On the first weekend alone (7 and 8 May), outdoor Rusticus Adventures will look at Wacky Wildlife, the perfect photo opportunity with a wily woodpecker, a ditzy dragonfly or barmy badger.
There will also be Rusticus Stilt Walkabouts - mischievous Flamingo loves nothing more than to roam the gardens at Sewerby sharing titbits, raiding picnics and challenging visitors to stand on one leg!
On Sunday, 8 May, there will also be an activity in the zoo, making willow fruit kebabs, and Wildcats will use their special Wildcats frames or magnifying glass, helping visitors become a Sewerby photographer, capturing a snapshot of Sewerby wildlife.
Throughout the exhibition, there will be a special programme of events for young visitors and their families.
'Under 5s Go Wild' will take place at the venue on Friday mornings from 13 May - 15 July. This will be a fun programme of activities for under 5s, all about wildlife, animals and the natural world, featuring music, art, drama, historical toys, stories, crafts and zoo experiences.
There will also be a bug trail in the house, together with puppets.
